WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Keith Ellison is rumored to be considering a run for Minnesota Attorney General. In response, Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) Executive Director, Scott Will, released the following statement:
“Keith Ellison’s interest in running to be the chief legal officer of Minnesota should alarm everyone in the state. Minnesotans are keenly aware of his troubled past, defense of anti-Semitic figures, praise of a cop killer and ties to the Nation of Islam, but it is Ellison’s entire career that stands out. He is an extremist. Keith Ellison makes Bernie Sanders seem moderate.
“There may be a place in Nancy Pelosi’s caucus for Ellison’s extreme views, but he would not be an impartial legal voice for Minnesota. Ellison would turn the Attorney’s General Office into a partisan political hatchet shop. If Democratic attorneys general across the country are being honest – they are deeply worried about his candidacy. As for Republicans, this is a call to action: let’s go win this seat.”
