State Senator Whitney Westerfield Announces His Candidacy for the Office of Kentucky Attorney General
Florida Attorney General and RAGA Chairman Pam Bondi released the following statement in regards to State Senator Whitney Westerfield entering the 2015 Kentucky Attorney General race:
“I want to congratulate State Senator Whitney Westerfield, who has officially entered the race for Kentucky Attorney General. As Chairman of the Kentucky Senate Judiciary Committee and a former prosecutor, Whitney has the right experience to serve as the state’s top law enforcement officer. He will defend the rule of law, push back against overreaching federal regulations that kill jobs, and he will be a strong partner in the ongoing fight against Obama initiatives, such as the President’s executive order on immigration, which is a blatant abuse of power and undermines the U.S. Constitution. I am looking forward to Whitney’s candidacy and joining with him to address issues critical to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and our country.”
Senator Whitney Westerfield was first elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2012, representing the citizens of Christian, Todd, and Logan counties in Western Kentucky. He is presently an Attorney with the Fletcher Law Firm in Hopkinsville after serving over five years as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. His prosecutorial record has included successful convictions on charges ranging from misdemeanors to murder. Whitney received his B.S. in Communication, with university and departmental honors, at the University of Kentucky in 2003 and earned his J.D. in the spring of 2006 from Southern Illinois University School of Law. Whitney’s wife is a local elementary Spanish teacher, and together are the proud parents a new baby girl.
