Mike DeWine is Ohio’s 50th Attorney General and serves as Ohio’s chief law officer, working every day to protect Ohio’s families.

Attorney General DeWine has a long and distinguished career in public service focusing on protecting Ohio children and families. From 1977-1981, DeWine served as Greene County Prosecutor before his election to the Ohio State Senate in 1980. In 1982, DeWine was elected to the United States House of Representatives; where he would go on to serve for four terms.

Mike DeWine began serving Ohioans statewide with his election as Lieutenant Governor in 1990. DeWine was elected to the United States Senate in 1994, serving 12 years and becoming the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee in more than 50 years.

As Attorney General, Mike DeWine is working hard to make sure his office provides top-notch criminal investigation and law enforcement training services, roots out public corruption, and helps create a legal climate in Ohio that encourages business to invest in the state and create jobs.

Since taking office, Attorney General DeWine has devoted resources and staff to fighting Ohio’s prescription drug abuse problem, increased the number of criminal prosecutions in consumer fraud cases, and focused on key issues affecting children and teens, including sex trafficking, child abuse and missing children.

On a personal note, Mike grew up in Yellow Springs and married his high school sweetheart, Frances Struewing, while both were students at Miami University. The DeWines, who have resided in Cedarville Township since Mike graduated from law school, are the parents of eight children and now the grandparents of 20 grandchildren.
