Washington, D.C. – The Republican Attorneys General (RAGA) released the following statement regarding tonight’s debate in North Carolina.
“Buck Newton demonstrated why he is going to be a great attorney general for the people of North Carolina,” said RAGA spokesman Jordan Russell. “He has a proven record and a clear plan to improve the business climate, get tough on criminals, and fight Washington overreach.”
“Josh Stein is an extreme Harvard radical who wants to use the office for ideological crusades and to take care of his trial lawyer friends. As an ex-staffer for disgraced former Senator John Edwards, Josh Stein learned all the wrong lessons about what the attorney general’s office should do. Stein has also taken positions far outside the North Carolina mainstream on numerous issues including opposing charter schools, tax cuts, and voter ID. As tonight’s debate showed, Josh Stein is ill-suited for the role of attorney general.”
About RAGA: The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) is the only national organization whose mission is electing Republicans to the Office of State Attorney General. In 2014 Republican attorneys general became the clear majority, for the first time in our country’s history, increasing the total number of Republican attorneys general from 24 to 27, protecting all our 12 incumbents and turning three states from blue to red, by investing nearly $14 million into political spending.
